Troubleshooting

Overexposed Image

11 Feb 2026

When a camera’s image quality is affected by uneven brightness distribution, overexposure may occur. Depending on the cause, you can optimize the image by following the solutions below.

I. Local Overexposure

When a camera is installed facing a window or doorway, strong outdoor light during the daytime may cause local overexposure.
In this case, it is recommended to enable the WDR / DWDR (Wide Dynamic Range) feature to balance bright and dark areas.

How to Enable WDR / DWDR

Step 1:
Open the CYVIO App, select the camera with overexposed images, tap the “...” icon in the upper-right corner, and choose Camera Settings.

Step 2:
Tap Common Settings to enter the general settings page.

Step 3:
Tap Image Settings to enter the image control page.

Step 4:
Enable WDR / DWDR. You can adjust the WDR/DWDR strength as needed to achieve optimal image balance.

II. Overexposure Caused by Reflection

When a camera is installed in a confined space, reflective surfaces (such as walls or nearby objects) may cause overexposure in night vision mode.
This issue can be resolved by enabling Smart IR (Intelligent Infrared Adjustment).

How to Enable Smart IR

Step 1:
Open the CYVIO App, select the camera with overexposed images, tap the “...” icon in the upper-right corner, and choose Camera Settings.

Step 2:
Tap Common Settings to enter the general settings page.

Step 3:
Tap Image Settings to enter the image control page.

Step 4:
Select IR LED Control and set it to Smart IR.

III. Overexposure Caused by Other Light Sources

For overexposure caused by strong artificial lighting, direct light exposure, or infrared interference, you can enable the camera’s built-in Anti-Overexposure feature.

How to Enable Anti-Overexposure

Step 1:
Open the CYVIO App, select the camera with overexposed images, tap the “...” icon in the upper-right corner, and choose Camera Settings.

Step 2:
Tap Common Settings to enter the general settings page.

Step 3:
Tap Image Settings to enter the image control page.

Step 4:
Enable the Anti-Overexposure option.

If image quality issues persist after applying the above settings, we recommend adjusting the camera’s installation position or contacting our support team for further assistance.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
