NVR HDD is Full And Cannot Overwrite
This article explains the possible reasons why the NVR hard drive is full and unable to overwrite existing recordings.
1. Overwrite Option Is Disabled
If the Overwrite option is set to Off, the NVR will stop recording once the storage is full and will not overwrite previously stored footage.
How to Enable Overwrite
Via the CYVIO App:
- Home screen → Device Settings
- Go to Storage
- Locate the Overwrite option
- Select any option other than Off to enable automatic overwriting based on your settings
Via the NVR System Interface:
- On the main screen, right-click with the mouse
- Select Configuration → Storage → Disk → Hard Disk
- Locate the Overwrite option
- Select any option other than Off to enable automatic overwriting
2. Incorrect Hard Drive Specifications
1. We strongly recommend using an original CYVIO hard drive.
If you are using a third-party hard drive, please ensure it meets the supported specifications.
2. Power off the NVR, open the NVR casing, and replace the hard drive.
For detailed installation instructions, please refer to Step 3 (Installation) in the article “NVR Does Not Detect the Hard Drive”.
3. Restart the NVR after replacing the hard drive.
3. Hard Drive Issues
If the hard drive itself is experiencing problems:
- Power off the NVR and unplug it from the power source
- Open the NVR casing and reseat the hard drive
- Back up any important recordings
- Format the hard drive
For instructions on removing and reinstalling the hard drive, please refer to Step 3 (Installation) in the article “NVR Does Not Detect the Hard Drive”.
4. Outdated NVR Firmware
Please ensure your NVR firmware is up to date.
You can update the firmware using either of the following methods:
Method 1: CYVIO App
1. Home page → tap the three dots (menu)
2. Select Device Settings → About Device
3. Tap Check System Updates
Method 2: NVR System Interface
