How to Check and Strengthen WiFi Signal for Cameras?
Important Notes on Wi-Fi Signals for CYVIO Cameras/NVRs
1. Signal Interference: The Wi-Fi signal strength of wireless cameras can be affected by various factors, including interference from neighboring Wi-Fi networks, the distance between the device and the router/hotspot, walls or physical obstacles, and the transmission power of the router or range extender.
2. Signal Requirements: Ensure that the wireless signal shows three bars or at least two bars. A one-bar signal is too weak to establish a stable connection.
How to Check the Wi-Fi Signal on CYVIO Devices
If you need to check the Wi-Fi signal strength of your CYVIO equipment, please follow these steps:
1. Battery-Powered Standalone Cameras (B220/B221)
Method A: Open the CYVIO app. You will see the Wi-Fi signal icon located directly above the device preview window.
Method B: Tap to enter the Live View. Briefly tap the preview screen once, and the status icons (including signal strength) will appear.

Note: If the status icon is not visible on the CYVIO app Home page, tap the Layout button in the top right corner to switch to List View.

2. Halow Kits (N1814/N1812)
- Signal Type: Please note that this signal icon represents the connection between the NVR and the IP camera, not the NVR's connection to your router.
- How to Check: Open the CYVIO app, enter the Live View, and tap the preview screen once to show the status icons.

3. Battery Doorbell Kit (R112)
Note: This Wi-Fi signal icon represents the connection strength between the Base Station and the Doorbell; it is unrelated to the connection with your router.
How to Check:
- Open the CYVIO app. You will see the Wi-Fi signal icon located directly above the device preview window.
- Alternatively, tap to enter the Live View and briefly tap the preview screen once to display the status icons.

Note: If you cannot see the status icon on the CYVIO app Home page, tap the Layout/Sort button in the top right corner to switch to List View.
How to Improve Your Wi-Fi Signal Strength
If the Wi-Fi signal is low or weak, follow these guidelines to enhance the connection for your CYVIO wireless devices:
- Suggestion 1: Reduce Distance – Shorten the distance between the camera and the router/hotspot.
- Suggestion 2: Change Wi-Fi Channels – Change your router's Wi-Fi channel to avoid interference from surrounding Wi-Fi networks.
- Suggestion 3: Avoid Electronic Interference – Keep the camera away from appliances or electronic devices such as microwave ovens, computers, and other wireless routers.
- Suggestion 4: Minimize Obstacles – Install the camera in a location with fewer physical obstacles (like thick walls or metal structures) between it and the router.
- Suggestion 5: Secure the Antenna – For cameras with external antennas, ensure the antenna is firmly attached and positioned correctly.
- Suggestion 6: Upgrade Your Router – Replace your current router with one that has higher wireless transmission power.
- Suggestion 7: Use a Wi-Fi Extender – Install a Wi-Fi range extender to boost the signal in the camera's location.
