How to Build FTP Server on Your PC (Cerberus FTP Server)?
Here are the detailed steps to install and configure the Cerberus FTP server on your computer:
Step 1: Download and Installation
Visit the official Cerberus FTP website (https://www.cerberusftp.com/) and download the appropriate version of the installer for your system. Run the setup file and follow the prompts, keeping the default configurations to complete the installation process.
Step 2: Initial Configuration Wizard
Launch Cerberus FTP Server and follow these sub-steps to complete the initial setup:
2.1 Server IP Configuration: The system will automatically detect your local IP address. If the detection fails, you can complete the remaining wizard steps first and later manually set the IP via "Server Manager → Advanced." Note that the service must be restarted after making changes. Click "Next" once the configuration is confirmed.

2.2 Admin Password Setup
Create a strong password for the administrator account. This password is required for server management, network configuration, and Remote API access control. Once set, click "Next."

2.3 File Storage and Account Configuration
Specify the file storage path for the server and create a dedicated FTP upload account. Ensure the password is at least 10 characters long and includes a combination of letters, numbers, and special symbols. Click "Next" when finished.

2.4 Shared Folder Settings
You may optionally create a public shared folder. If selected, click "Setup Server." The system will then generate an access link and a password. Please ensure you save the password immediately, as it cannot be viewed again once the pop-up window is closed.

Step 3: File Extension Restrictions
To prevent upload failures, you must configure the file extension rules: Go to "User Manager → Blocked Extensions." If you do not wish to restrict any specific file types, select the "Deny" option (to ensure no extensions are blocked).

Step 4: Testing with CYVIO VMS
Log in to the CYVIO VMS platform (https://vms.cyviolife.com/) and enter the Device Management interface. Select your target device and click "Remote Parameter" to access the remote configuration settings.
Step 5: FTP Connection Test
Enter your Cerberus server information on the FTP Configuration page and click the "Test" button. If a pop-up appears stating "Write to file is successful!", the configuration is correct, and a test file will be saved to the designated directory.
