How to Check/Format HDD via CYVIO NVRs?
This guide explains how to check and format the hard drive connected to your CYVIO NVR.
Step 1: Log in to the NVR System
Enter the NVR password or use the pattern unlock to access the system.

Step 2: Enter the Configuration Page
On the live preview screen, right-click the mouse to open the system menu, then select Configuration to enter the settings interface.

Step 3: Open the HDD (Disk) Page
Follow the numbered steps shown in the image to switch to the Disk / HDD management page.

How to Check the Hard Drive Status
1. View Hard Drive Information
On the HDD page, you can view detailed information about the hard drive connected to the NVR, including:
- Disk model
- Firmware version
- Disk type
- Remaining / total capacity
- Remaining / total recording time
2. Check Hard Drive Health via S.M.A.R.T
You can use the S.M.A.R. T function to detect and evaluate the operating status of the hard drive, helping to identify potential risks and prevent data loss caused by disk failure.
Note:
The S.M.A.R. T function is only supported by certain NVR models.
If your device does not support this feature, you may skip this step.
S.M.A.R. T Test Options
HDD ID:
Select the hard drive you want to test.
Self-check Type:
Choose one of the following test types:
-
Short:
Tests the major components of the hard drive, such as the read/write heads, electronics, and internal memory. -
Long:
A more time-consuming test that verifies all major components and performs a surface scan to detect problematic areas and force bad sector reallocation if necessary. -
Conveyance:
A very quick test that checks whether the mechanical components of the hard drive are functioning properly.
After selecting the desired test type, click Test to start the hard drive health check.
-
Important:
If a S.M.A.R. T error is detected, there is a risk of data loss.
It is strongly recommended to replace the hard drive with a new one as soon as possible.
How to Format the Hard Drive
